So as all of you know the Dolphins lost last night. The worst special teams in football lost that game. Thankfully the fins fired their special teams coach (which should have happened last week after an awful performance against the Jets). Two straight division losses pretty much sums up the season for the Dolphins. It will take a miracle for Miami to make it to the playoffs. SIGH............ there's always next season.

After a disappointing and tear-jerking loss to the New York Jets, (seriously fuck them, I hope Rex Ryan dies of a heart attack) the Dolphins need a win to stay in the game for the playoff race in the AFC East. The AFC East is arguably one of the best, if not the best, conference in the NFL. With one pitiful exception (Buffalo Bills LOL), this conference garners three playoff caliber teams. The Dolphins have a rough schedule ahead of them having to after the Pats and a bye week. The fins have to go up against some of the best defenses in the league in the Packers, Bengals, Steelers, and Ravens. A lot needs to happen for this team to make the playoffs, but I think they have the potential to do it.

The Chicago Bears are the real deal.

At the beginning of the season I truly thought that the Bears and Jay Cutler would the season at the bottom of NFC North. The improvements that this team in the off-season amazed me. The receiving core has really stepped up their game. Devin Hester, Johnny Knox, and Greg Olsen played great games against a team I believe will go to the Super Bowl in the Green Bay Packers. The Bears defense is starting to look like the lock-down defense that the Bears used to be known for. I am very curious to see what this team will do for the rest of the season.

when I started this blog I said I would be giving fantasy football pointers. I told you all to try your best to draft Arian Foster. Well he made me look like an absolute GENIUS today. 238 total yards and 3 TDs. That was good enough for 41 points in my fantasy league. If anyone had any doubts about you can sleep happily knowing that you drafted the breakout player of the week and maybe even the year.

Impact of recent NFL cuts.

Yesterday's football news was flooded with teams finalizing there rosters for the regular season which starts next Monday September 13th.

Even though most cuts were insignificant  there were some surprises. In my last post I wrote about Matt Leinart being shopped for a trade. Well Cardinals fans were surprised to see that the organization actually cut Leinart. This leaves the horrendous Derek Anderson as the starting quarterback who, lets face, is probably WORSE than Leinart. Anderson had a terrible 44% pass accuracy last season to go with 3 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. Yikes? I don't know what the Cards are going to do this season but one thing is for sure, there is no way that this team is making the playoffs.

More surprising cuts were the Dolphins cutting former 2nd round and 3rd round picks Pat White and Patrick Turner , respectively. Since Bill Parcels took over as GM for the fins the team has definitely improved its drafting. But not all picks can be winners. Parcels believed that Pat White could strengthen the Wildcat formation. Much to his, and the entire fins fanbase, chagrin White was an utter failure that got creamed by opposing defenses and made awful passes. Being a Dolphins fan myself I winced at the decision to draft Pat White in the 2nd round 2 years ago. I could not understand why we drafted a QB after drafting Chad Henne the year before. To draft a guy for one formation that would be seen maybe 11-14 times per game was ridiculous. The "WildPat" just wasn't going to happen.

Another key cut was the decision of the Vikings to drop recently signed Javon Walker. Walker used to play with Farve in Green Bay and they had solid chemistry. With the recent loss of Sidney Rice for half of the season you would think that the Vikings would take a better chance on Walker instead of dumping him after a few weeks of training camp.

Either way the news of team cuts got me hyped for opening day for the NFL as the Vikings face the Saints. I cannot wait for this season to start.

Cards taking offers to trade Matt Leinart?

All I can say about this is...... Who the hell wants Matt Leinart that badly? Anyone who watched the Trojans during the Reggie Bush era would know just what kind of QB Leinart is. His job was standing behind his brick wall of an offensive line and taking his sweet time playing catch with his receivers. Compare this to his NFL play WITHOUT an O-line and watch as this little boy scampers out of the pocket as defenders chase him like a fat kid chasing a rolling donut. Not only can he not throw under pressure, he can't even get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald who owns one of the best pairs of hands, as well as size, in the NFL. 

What I don't get is that teams WANT this guy. Teams currently interested in Leinart include the Buffalo Bills (they are in desperate need for a QB but LEINART? No thank you), The New York Giants (Eli owns the job there Leinart would do what he does best, warm the bench), and the Oakland Raiders (lets face it, this team is pretty hopeless with or without a decent QB). 

Leinart will probably wind up in New York as a back-up which, lets face it, is the only job hes suited for in the NFL besides maybe being the team towel boy. 

Top Fantasy Football Sleeper

So here I go again with some fantasy football banter. I've been called crazy on several occasions due to the amount of stats/players/facts I know about football. It kind of scares me too!

So I will name drop a player who I think will have an incredible year at an incredible value in fantasy drafts.
1. Arian Foster:  This guy has a perfect combo of speed and power. He also has the perfect situation in Houston. After Kubiak realzied how terrible Steve Slaton really is, he appears to have given Foster the starting job. If anyone watched the Texans last preseason game (which I doubt, I mean its PRE-season) you would've seen how much of a stud he is. 22 touches for 126 yards and a touchdown. Thats a very impressive 6.1 ypc. This guy is getting drafted in the 6th and 7th rounds in drafts. Moral of the story..... DRAFT THIS MAN!!!

Love seeing the Red Sox lose!!

I am an AVID Yankees fan and even though the Rays once again tied the Yanks in the division I can't help but smirk at any misfortunes of the red sox.

So I decided to make a blog. BIG DEAL, WANNA FIGHT ABOUT IT? I wasn't entirely sure what to blog about so I chose sports.

I will begin with Football. AMERICAN Football. This post will focus on fantasy football. Next week I will participate in my only fantasy draft of the year. This league is mostly a friend league but has solid competition. I am coming back as the league champion and have been talking plenty of trash.

I consider myself pretty decent at fantasy sports so I will divulge some drafting tips
1. This is VERY important: Make sure to draft an elite # Wide Receiver within the 1st three rounds.
  The reason for this is that the drop off from your Andre Johnsons to your Dwayne Bowes is massive.
2. Wait till the LAST TWO ROUNDS to draft a defense and kicker (respectfully). Drafting any of these two positions early is GREATLY discouraged due to the fact that these two positions are incredibly deep as well as unpredictable. Look at last years drafts. The New York Giants defense was drafted 1st in most leagues and finished near last in fantasy points. You never know what can happen so just pick defenses with good match-ups.
3. Now this tip will get mixed reviews: Wait to draft a Quarterback! This year is surprisingly deep in the QB category. You can wait till around the 7th round to get a solid QB. QBs I like that are going late are Kevin Kolb, Joe Flacco, Donovan Mcnabb, Brett Farve, and Carson Palmer. Each of these QBs had solid fantasy years last season and stand to have even better seasons.
